  In this chapter, John returns to Wisma in Bandung. Once again Rasy and his friends took John out for a night that would show him how Americans are seen by average people in Southeast Asia. The locals were intrigued by this tall American. There was a puppeteer who did a show which included President Nixon (this was during his era) and another capitalist. The puppeteer had Nixon grab Vietnam off the backdrop and the puppet proceeded to devour Vietnam.  This showed John how Americans are seen. That was back in the early to mid-1970s. I can only imagine how this puppeteer would depict us now. Rasy's friends asked John about his thoughts regarding the show. He couldn't tell them outright what his job was.   This video is going to piss you off. Why? We will see what happened with the baby formula while moms were desperately hunting it down. Well, ours finally got there. Yep! The Walmart in Frenchtown Michigan has raised the price of sixty eggs to $14.98. My jaw almost dropped when I saw it. Milk today at Kroger is $3.19 for a gallon.  Part two opens with John being based in Indonesia. After looking at pictures of the Wisma in Bandung, I can understand why John liked it. The pictures I found of Bandung were beautiful. Part of John's job was to visit local residents, businesses, and government employees. After a while, he got a feeling that they didn't trust him enough to open up to him. Usually, when Americans visited Indonesia they stayed in the capital Jakarta. Residents rarely ever crossed paths with them. The lady who managed Wisma in the 1970s while John was there had a son close to John's age. Rasmon or Rasy, taught John how to speak Bahasa Indonesia. President Sukarno created Bahasa to unite his people under one common language. Indonesia had 350 official languages and dialects which changed in each area.
