For the first time, John sat down and read his resume. If you look at it from a naive perspective, you would think he was a good man doing much good in the world. However, go to the areas of the world and you realize they didn't do anything well. They got governments in such debt that they will never get out of. He secured what was supposed to be a never-ending oil supply.  He wrote reports in the manner that was expected. John had recruited others with advanced degrees.   In this chapter John finally admits he regrets and hates the role he plays in the subrogation of people. John faced his own soul here.   In this chapter, John returns to Columbia. His life takes a turn he never saw coming. Throughout his career, John often struggled with his job. He understood what he was doing and the consequences. Until meeting Paula, he was able to rationalize his actions. Now, this Colombian-born designer turned activist would change him forever. Paula was born to Italian immigrants. She became a designer because that's what was expected of her. She was good at it. Her line was in boutiques from Nicaragua to Venezuela.  She left the design work to be an activist.
