Here we go again y'all. We have two journalists for financial magazines saying the labor shortage will end soon. According to Ben Winck from Business Insider expects a hiring free for all to happen after the New Year. However, CNBC Financial genius Eric Rosenbaum makes it clear that the Apple Chip shortage is ending, but the supply chain of goods following in from China to the US is a train wreck. Yet according to John Matarese with a Denver ABC affiliate station there may be a few items not on your Thanksgiving table this year. Why? Labor shortage. So are we turning a corner or not? These new round of manipulation can make you head spin. Let's break it down.
It's true that more people started leaving their miserable jobs behind starting back in September. Also, let's look at the scam numbers that two of the geniuses are using for employment numbers. If you are unemployed but looking, you're considered employed. If you are unemployed and doing odd jobs, you're considered employed. If you are unemployed and have given up your considered unemployment and there's something wrong with you. Never mind the place you worked for since you were 18 now at forty eight and that is all you know how to do (ie plumbing) and now there's nothing in plumbing in your area thanks to you being designated 'not essential' you lost years you put into a company when they closed. And the local big box home improvement stores don't pay close to what you made. According to the media and government you're a useless eater now. Honestly, I hope these folks permanently turn their backs on corporate America because it's fascist and it's time for it to end.
Now let's look at what might or might not be on your Thanksgiving table this year. First, I have no idea how Thanksgiving sales are going to look. Or if there will be sales. Many corporations were telling supermarket chains not to plan on sales or plan on enforcing limits. I do know that the prices will go up. When we moved to Michigan five years ago, I could get a dozen eggs at Aldi's for under a dollar. Wednesday I went in for a sales paper. The eggs were $1.48. Yesterday I went in again and those same damn eggs were two cents higher at $1.50. That is two cents over three days. This is what John Matarese was talking about. Rising price or no eggs at all. My jaw dropped Wednesday and yesterday I thought I was going to hyperventilate.
Perhaps that two cents may not sound like much. Think about it this way. You have a budget set in stone. There is no room for errors or overnight price hikes. Now you have a set list that you always use. It's the perfect list because everything is calculated with taxes in it. You know exactly what you will be paying today. Except you get to your usual store and everything went up two cents. I mean everything across the store. That could destroy your budget for food. Remember you don't buy any premade from any part of the store. Rather you make everything from scratch. Now everything is two cents more. Now what? This is the dilemma most people in America are faced with. Do they buy the chicken they're out of or do they get their medicine? For some people taking medication every other day might be the option they are forced to take.
* I AM NOT SAYING TO DO THIS! * This isn't medical advice. It's the choice many Americans have to make. While our neighbors to the North Canada is a Socialist country, America where I live isn't. We call ourselves progressive while citizens here are forced to choose between eating and medication. I doubt Mr. John Matarese mentioned this fact in his article.
