1950’s Portion Sizes and Lifestyle

This video will be looking at the 1950s portion sizes and overall lifestyle. Here’s what I found, they were busy. Not by today’s standard of busy. Dad goes to work, kiddies go to school, and mom cleans and preps the house for the family’s return. Mom didn’t just set around waiting for the motivation to clean. NO! She had a set list and a set amount of time.

  1. Meal Planning.. This was done each week or month just whichever worked best for the family.

  2. Inventory. Mom always knew what was in the cabinets and what was on sale which could be added to a meal.

  3. Cook at home. Mom always cooked at home. Rarely was dinner out. That was a treat. Even when they did, it was the proper portion, not like today.

  4. Clean. Mom cleaned every day. Sweeping/mopping, vacuuming, and dusting. Until the kiddies were old enough to have chores then her load got a bit lighter. Especially during the summer.

  5. Outside activities. During the summer mom was busy with the kiddies once chores were done. Or she would take them outside while she hung laundry on the line. Get your laundry done and watch the littles. Kill two birds with one stone.

  6. Garden. In the 1950s, families still kept gardens. It was the same as the Great Depression where a great garden yield was life or death. Just to help cut the cost of food.

We’ve talked about school lunches before. They were balanced minus the raw chicken nuggets. I have a 1954 Better Homes and Garden cookbook with a section with suggested lunches. (Also, suggested breakfast and dinner.) Family life in this period included Dad. Below are some links because this video has gone on long enough.

UN Legitimate and Two Illegitimate Speakers

This was a freakshow of a week…. I actually did a whole layout here and accidentally deleted it. OMG. I realize this week was crazy, but holy shit! This is what it did. So here’s a quick recap before I have a completely psychotic break.  Trump entered the UN building with the same level of disaster he entered the world with. The safety feature that will prevent someone carrying a ‘nasty surprise’ from entering the top level of the escalator. That still leaves the elevators. The teleprompter stopped working. That was it, there’s a conspiracy. He did what any brain-dead American would do: whine and bitch. His almost hour-long tirade ended by telling other nations they will go to hell. I guess there will be a family reunion.  Netanyahu went to speak, and it’s a good thing that there were influencers paid to be there; otherwise, why on earth would anybody subject themselves to Netanyahu’s incoherent nonsense after Trump is beyond me. Netenhahu finished last week by threatening Chi...

Who is Ahmed al-Sharaa?

Ahmed was born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Wait! What was that???? Born in Saudi Arabia…. How the hell did he get to be president of Syria? A country that he isn’t even a citizen of? That is as insane as Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announcing he is going to be the president of America. Actually, I would welcome that. Since he is obviously smarter than any American Political puppet. At least we would be able to have our Christian values protected. There wouldn’t be an abortion clinic on every city block. And the sexualization of children would come to a dead stop. Veterans would be better cared for under Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. However, that will never happen, but I think you get how insane that is. I found that you have to be a natural-born citizen of Syria to be president of Syria.  Ahmed al-Sharaa was a member of Al Qaeda. You remember the pack of terrorists who attacked us on 9/11/. My question is, why is Al-Qaeda allowed to exist if they were involved in 9/11? ...

Feeling Ignored

I didn't mean to ignore this site. I have been busy with the government shutdown, and I have to say, what a freak show. Let's break this down: 1. There is a budget. Once it's clear that we won't tolerate the freak show any longer, the budget will be put in front of us. Of course, it won't have an accurate date. The date it was actually signed.  2. What are we currently focused on? The shutdown. We are looking at the fact that Israel is attacking Iran, again, for having the very same thing they have: nuclear weapons. We also have nuclear weapons in America. We also have a nasty habit of using weapons of mass destruction. Dioxin was used in Vietnam; it was later called Agent Orange.  3. We are no longer demanding the release of the Epstein and Maxwell files. Of course, by the end of October, I am sure this will be in the headline again because one of the other party will bring it up.  4. Prices. The lamestream media isn't talking about the real prices. I went ye...
