Growing up in America we were conservative. Even after the disaster is known as the 60's counterculture. The cities were shit and still are. For crying out loud, San Francisco has a poop map. There may be more cities with a poop map, I just haven't found them nor do I care to. I know the homeless situation is dire. I don't need a poop map to remind me.
Anyway, I look at Russia now and I miss what America use to be. The family was the center of life. Now one call can get the state involved. Give your child a bible and you may have a state nazi at your door. If you try to explain to your child they are the gender the Heavenly Father planned on them being, you will get a visit from big brother. And for the love of humanity don't try to explain that Heavenly Father created man and woman. That is because for humanity to continue this is what is required, male and female.
They are also seeing an upswing in Christianity. During the communist era, churches were destroyed. It was seen as a threat to the government. Eventually, they backed down a bit on that stance. However, since President Putin has been in office Russia has rebuilt 25 new churches. Also how people who take in children who are abandoned by their parents. Or the parents are unable to care for their children.
I am happy to see Russia come so far from where they were just twenty years ago. Here is the but in this whole thing. They are working to decriminalize domestic violence and child abuse. This is a problem and it needs to be dealt with. I have no problem with the idea that a priest will set down with a couple who are struggling. That is part of their job, or at least use to be a part of their job. They acted as a sounding board. A safe place for couples to talk and have assistance with the listening part of talking. However, President Putin should be reminded that the majority of women who are murdered are done so by their spouse. So there has got to be a prison sentence so bad that men will think twice about killing their wives. I am thinking Black Dophine. It's a prison in Russia that is so bad that if you are sentenced there, it's a one-way trip. Only once has there ever been a pardon issued for someone sent there.
