This is going to be a quick post. Last Thursday during the daily back-patting session, Trump made an off-handed comment about the effectiveness of disinfectants and if they would work if consumed. I don't know if he realized that there are actually people in this country stupid enough to do this. Apparently, there was. There were calls to the poison control center regarding people who had actually done this very thing. To make a long story short, there were people who actually drank bleach and tried to inject Lysol into their bodies. This is what happens when your leader is an idiot. Trump can build with the best (or worst) of them. He can set in an office while others bust their ass making him a billionaire. No question about it. But he isn't a doctor. Over the last few days, I have collecting articles on our food chain system. There is a common theme, Meat Packing Plants are closing till an unknown date. Think about this, two years ago Beyond Meat came out and there was so many ads for it. Edward Bernays would be proud. The propaganda went into overdrive. However, most of us said, “Thank you, but no thank you.”  Now we are going to be forced to eat it. Big meat companies like Tyson and Purdue started diversifying their product line into fake meat.  What does this mean? It’s going to mean shortages, livestock culling, and worst yet, more people unemployed. Because there are not enough people unemployed now. We need more people unemployed and homebound. Great idea! Food banks are seeing an explosion of people who have never been to a food bank. People who had always worked are now unemployed because of the broken food chain. So a few weeks ago I did a video on how we shouldn’t be surprised that people don’t buy into this nonsense. Why wouldn’t they? Monday’s press briefing seen a hot mic moment that was jaw-dropping. We are now at 26 million on or filing for unemployment. Meanwhile, these ass hats have used up every penny in the CARES Act had to offer. Okay! I am playing this quarantine thing to the humor. If we don’t have a sense of humor I think we will all go insane at the same moment. So here we go how to make the apple chips. Take whatever apples you have and slice them as thinly as possible. No, you are not going to get them as thin as commercially produced chips. We don’t have the heavy-duty slicing equipment. Nor do we have the dehydrating equipment. The recipe is the basic instructions. When you can your own meat you get a sense of satisfaction knowing you’re not completely dependent on a store for this part of life. Yes, I had to buy the chicken from Kroger. It is what it is for right now.  Here are some important things to remember: Pint jars are 75 minutes or 1 hour and 15 minutes. Quarts jars are 90 minutes or 1 hour and 30 minutes. If you run a session with quarts with a pint you must use the quart time.  Cut chicken, (or whatever meat you are using) into uniform sizes. This way it all gets done at the same time.  Wipe your rim off. Especially if you are using high-fat meat like pork roast.  Keep your manual close. Don’t live your canner running unsupervised. Over the past two weeks, I have purchased multiple cans and packs of precooked salmon. Then yesterday I decided ‘hey let’s compare the prepacked salmon against the fresh salmon’. What could possibly go wrong other than about a hundred things!!! Well needless to say not only did Antonia not appreciate being a guinea pig but she immediately spotted the difference. No there was no smell you would associate with prepacked salmon. I tasted fine to me. I am sure in a jam we will be grateful to have it. However, that scenario will be the last recourse. First, as I said above, we in Michigan can still buy seeds online. Tell me, do you really want to stand next to someone who is coughing, sneezing, and basically looks like they could drop dead at any minute. I don’t. You can also buy electronics, clothes, and anything else online pretty much from Wal-Mart’s site except toilet paper or canned tuna. I don’t know. They say they are trying to make things easier but they aren’t. We are expecting so crazy weather over the next 24 hours. Why? Because DARPA has scheduled it. Right in the middle of the country being shut down, our food supply chain is going to hell in a handbasket, and we are being told there is an illness out there that is killing thousands of people every day, so we have to stay home unless it’s absolutely necessary for us to get out. A couple of days ago I made a piece of salmon and it was so good. I will do a video on how I cook salmon super simple. Salt & Pepper wrap in aluminum foil. I went to Kroger on Monday and I found that no one cares about fancy sauces in a pandemic. I couldn’t believe it. People do know what really matters and that is the basics. Foods that offer nutrition and can last for a long period of time on a shelf. I must have lost the footage from the Dollar General’s TP section. Bare! Nothing to be seen. Here is what we found at both Dollar General and Kroger. Remember the half-empty shelves will have to get used to. We had a terrible harvest in the Fall and no Agri Farm Hands this year.
