The New Confessions Of An Economic Hit Man By John Perkins Chapter Eleven: Pirates in the Canal Zone
This chapter starts out with John meeting a young man who was native to Panama. Fidel was a descendant of Simon Bolivar. A man who lead men to fight Spain for independence for what we know as Panama. John told Fidel he is a descendant of Thomas Paine the writer of Common Sense. John was pleased to find out Fidel had read Common Sense in Spanish. And Fidel was pleased that John could speak Spanish.
Fidel showed John around Panama’s capital and they ran into a variety of people. John got a good idea of the attitudes of people who are from Panama. Some of them consider themselves above those who are Native to Panama and could get around the jungles. As usual, there was a population who had picked up on the America ‘I’m better than you’ bullshit attitude.
