There is a section of the population who have forgotten basic life skills. Skills such as canning, preserving, and hunting. We also have cities like Miami Flordia who are working to outlaw vegetable gardens in private homes. WTF? Telling private citizens they can have a garden in the front yard of their home because the sun is better in the front yard. I wish I had to keep that article.
Anyway, we see multiple generations who are heavier than their grandparents were. I watch shows like Alaska: The Last Frontier and I see all these interesting skills the rest of the world has forgotten. Gardening, hide cleaning, building what you need with what you have in front of you.
Women knew how to sew and cook a meal in 30 minutes or less. They could truly make a house a home. Making their clothes when needed. Teenage girls could put a dress together on a Saturday afternoon. They could throw together biscuits in time at all. And set the most beautiful tablescapes. They could make butter as labor intense as it was. It tasted better than what you bought at the store.
I guess I have been thinking about these because this month makes twelve years my late Grams passed. There was nothing that woman couldn't do. I do miss her.
