  I am going to take the next four days to take care of somethings around here like cleaning summer use fans for winter storage. We need to get the windows cleaned and ready for the plastic covering for the winter. And Antonia has a wisdom that has come in with three right behind it. Yeah, teen years! I will be setting the November menu according to this.  Also, I am going to do some re-organizing that needs to be done. One last thing I am going to do is set my winter reading list.  Here are my five got to tips for planning a month’s menu. The purpose of a monthly menu for us to not eat out. It’s a reminder that we have enough right here to through something else together if we don’t want to eat what’s on the menu for a day.  Shop your home. Seriously! Here are six items going up. Pre-prepped veggies. When in the hell did we get so lazy that we can't cut a head of lettuce. I am guilty of this. I blame the amount of waste created by me doing it. That's going to stop. Pre-cut and marinated meat. I am guilty of buying pre-cut meat because we do eat wings. Mainly breast and thigh or drumstick. As for marinades, I stay away from these. We have a specific taste so it would be a waste to buy them in a marinade. Name brand cereal. Holy Apple Jacks Captain Crunch. There is going to be a markup of around 44%.   I am not sure what's going on with Newell Brand Company. Last week there was baking mixes here where the canning jars used to be. So I guess they got something worked out. Now the Heritage Farms chickens were full but pricy. There is a new item at Kroger in the Caribbean Food section. Dellah Global Kitchen. They have simmering sauces, marinades, and dry seasoning blends. We aren’t into Caribbean food that much, but I do want to mention them because they are new.  As I walked up the gravy aisle, I noticed that there was an Indian inspired simmering sauce then a Mongolian Barbeque sauce. Between them was nothing. Goose egg. Same with the Gravy section. There was no Nacho Cheese Sauce and only one Red Enchilada Sauce. Three cans of Green sauce.   These started as a cute idea that went sideways. I reviewed a recipe and realized what I did wrong. 1. I didn’t follow the recipe to the specific detail, and 2.   There is a buzz about rather use Insta Pot for pressure canning. NEVER! Prepare food to go into a jar for a canning session, fine. I don’t know why this insanity started but it has and we have to address it. As the title says never use an insta pot for the pressure canning process. Always use the stovetop ones.  Back in the spring there were a lot of people at home and bored out of their minds so they started baking and canning. Which is great. For people who are experienced canners to actually encourage new canners to use their insta pot for pressure, canning is irresponsible and stupid. The problem is that the inside of an insta pot doesn’t get hot enough to pressure can safely.   Here is a way to upcycle a cheeseball. Croissant rolls. Yeah! I have made croissants with cold cuts and sliced cheese so putting cheese from a cheese ball just seemed like the next best thing.  While Antonia wasn’t sure at first, rest assured, she finished them off. So there is a good chance your teen will do the same.  Simple: Unroll the croissants Place about a tsp of cheese from the cheese ball in the middle Roll each croissant up.  Preheat the oven as the package directions say.   I found a new item called the Harrisa. It’s a Middle East spice available in Red, Super Red, and Green. If logic applies here then the reader the hotter. I could be wrong. The toilet paper looked okay however, the paper towels were gone. Not one roll. I’ll be damned if I fight over a roll of paper towels or toilet paper other famine items maybe.  There were scared items missing throughout the store, but overall it’s looking okay.  I was surprised by seeing the baking mixes in the canning section.   This was the first cheese ball I have ever done in my life. I didn’t grow up eating them so I didn’t really know how delicious they are. I will be making them in the future.   You're not seeing things. I have three books for must-reads. They are connected because the first two are analyzing the third. First, let's examine the last book on Agenda 21. It's large and very deceiving in its wording. When you look at it sounds wonderful. Protect the environment. Clean up the earth. Encourage people to use recyclable containers as the U.S.S.R. did.   As of this week, we saw the reduction of canning supplies being pulled from the stores until March 1, 2020. I should this in a video this week and I was still shocked. It’s so strange to see empty shelves in that section. I have noticed that the pectin is still on the shelves at Kroger. If you are seeing this please share. After the lockdown and the empty sections on the shelves, many people freaked out. They blame those of us who had the mindset to have extra lids on the shelf for lean times. And we are in lean times.   It’s official Newell has officially pulled the bulk of their products geared toward food preservation from the shelves until March 1, 2021.  You can find some lids it’s just we don’t know the quality. We don’t know the origins. There is a lot of concern about them being from China regarding the lead and BPAs in the lids. I say this, last week Bev from Our Half Acre Homestead used lids she found at a dollar store made in China and she used them on camera. They worked as well as a Bernadine lid (Ball in Canada).  There wasn’t much for Coke a cola and no regular Dr. Pepper in 2-liters. A subscriber of Sutton Daze sent Liesa an email from Newell the owner of Ball (Bernardine in Canada), Kerr, and Golden Harvest stated that there won’t be available until March 1, 2021. That is six months without canning supplies of any kind. Okay! Maybe things like the chalk markers may be available and perhaps dissolvable stickers to label jars maybe but the jars, and lids won’t be.
