Growing up my late father used to tell me that fear and panic were useless emotions. They cloud your judgment and make you do the wrong thing. Or go the wrong way. In 2019 my eyes were opened to the national food shortages that we are now seeing by Christian at Ice Age Farmer. Then it was sugar beets that had a terrible season. The following December I started prepping. A little here and a little there. I have amassed a nice nest egg for my daughter and myself.
We are seeing limits on items again. Meijer's in Frenchtown Michigan has water jugs two per purchase. Walmart is limiting baby formula five per day. That means if you have quadruplets, five cans of the formula is all you can get. You kids are not Walmart's problem. Rather or not they would make accommodations for that, I don't know. The point is that limits are returning. I watched a video Survival Lily from Austria did. They had wheat to make bread. Not like three months prior. Sunflower oil was the same. The store had it, not like their last visit. What I didn't know is that she and her husband are a five-hour drive from the Ukrainian and Austrian border. That's a little too close for me.
The cost of everything is going through the roof. This started over a year ago so we can't blame Russia as much as certain people want us to. No, that's not how it works. Granted, Russia and Ukraine are the major Agri zone in the world. This area grows more wheat for flour per se than anywhere. Grains are abundant. Do I expect to see DC backtrack and remove sanctions? Yes. I do think they are going to have to if they don't have absolute anarchy. I am not talking about the brand of anarchy I condone which includes people thinking for themselves. You know, asking who, what, where, when, why, and how. The way we are supposed to. However, if you do this you won't fall for propaganda by anyone. We don't have enough oil in reserve to get by on our own. Venezuela isn't obligated to sell to us, or more of, they can't. We can't buy from them because we have sanctions on them. Most South American countries have decided to reduce or halt outright what they are going to export. They didn't have a good season. On top of that, as we go into spring and summer, they go into fall and winter.
With all this, it doesn't look good. With the push by the US, UK, and NATO for a war with Russia, the dollar losing value, gold prices are going up. Russia has a great deal of gold. This is going to be good for Russia and bad for us. When masses are desperate and hungry, governments WILL give in to their populations and trade with Russia, China, or Iran. There are European countries that are already backing away from oil bans on Russian oil. Why? Push comes to shove governments only care about their own power. Sanctions are damned.
Going forward I don't see sanctions really matter to people. Also, we have the situation between China and Taiwan. Apparently, we are leaving Taiwan. Yeah! Just leaving, and no dear John letter. There's a concern that China will see it as a green light for them to take Taiwan back as officially part of China. The citizens of Taiwan are concerned and they should be. I can't imagine what they are thinking right now seeing how little we are actually involved with the situation in Ukraine. After all, we've been goading President Putin into a war there since 2014. President Putin is smarter than the puppets in DC. That's that. Point being we are seeing a potential for a war on two or possibly three fronts. If Saudi Arabia and the rest of OPEC decide that there's room for two petro currencies, this is going to be bad for us. Why? Most people don't understand what having a dominant dollar means for America. It's like having an abusive boyfriend. No matter how far you run or how many times you run, he (or she) drags you back. Example: Omar Gaddafi wanted to create an African Union like the European Union. He suggested taking gold as payment for oil. Since there are many countries in Africa that have gold, Gaddafi figured it would liberate Africa from the European oppressors. Like England. They still have a bit of a hold on South Africa. Not like they used to. Gaddafi saw this as a way to free the continent from the International Monetary Fund. This is what got him murdered. I mean in cold blood. Gaddafi had to know there was a risk in this path. We sanctioned Venezuela into poverty for the similar thing. This was after the whole Gaddafi thing. Needless to say, President Maduro didn't push the issue. He saw what we are capable of.
