First Amendment

The first amendment is very important. It covers three important rights.
  1. Freedom of Speech.
  2. Freedom of Religion.
  3. Freedom of the press.
We have the right to be offensive if we choose. We have the right to speak our mind without the worry of being arrested. We can and do speak against the government. We are guaranteed the right to have an honest press. We should be able to count on our media for accurate news.

Our first amendment gives us the right to live with a religion or to live without it. We have the right to choose between Catholic or Muslim. It even gives Antone LeVey the right to declare his Church of Satan as a religious house of worship. Giving him the same tax exemptions as churches. Rather we like it or not he is covered by the first amendment.

Here is the thing, if we allow this amendment to be thrown out, then we have to ask which one will be next. The right to say no to military personnel so they can't occupy our homes, or will it be the right to bare arms. Well, there are certain people who are already trying to go after the second amendment. 

The talk of getting rid of our constitution sends my blood pressure through the roof.  Czar Nickolas signed a constitution and then Lenin got rid of it. Lenin just rolled up and tossed in the garbage. We all know how that ended. Our constitution must be protected. While we have it at least. We have hit a point where our government is looking more and more like an oligarchy than a republic. We already know there are no two parties anymore. It's one party with the illusion of two.

Reality Check

Who Gets To Run For Office?

  Have you ever wondered why some people in America are eligible to run for an office like the Senate or President, but others who might be more qualified are not ? I have been wondering about this. Let’s first examine the cost of running for a national office. Before we get started, let's look at what the base cost was to run for an office in 1915, right before the Federal Reserve was established.  The Senate seat was $2k up to but not exceeding $10k.  Presidential $5k to $10k.
