  John talks about his first trip to Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. His driver showed him around. John's driver told him he could leave his stuff in the car open for all to see and no one would ever think of stealing. Anybody who has ever read Jean Sasson's Princess trilogy knows that Saudi takes capital punishment seriously. Thieves will lose their hands. NO joke!   We are on the fourth of seven deadly sins. The ones covered so far are Vainglory or Pride and Greed.   We are almost halfway through December and the insanity keeps going. This part of the month we saw the following items that just irritated me to no end. Prisoner Swap. We swapped a high-value Russian prisoner in an American prison for a basketball player in a Russian prison for possession of TCB which is illegal in Russia. Viktor Bout was accused of running guns in Thailand. He was illegally expedited to America. By all reason had he been guilty, then that was Thailand’s problem. And gun-running. Really! We have one full month left of 2022. It's time to stop and seriously take stock of what we have to be thankful for. I'll go first. Family. I have so many people in my life who I love dearly and return that love.  Roof over our head. We have a small apartment. It has numerous flaws. However, I am thankful for a roof over my head.   Food security. At this time we are food secure. And I am thankful. There are so many people in America who are starving.  In 2022, the world has seen so much chaos. It's hard to find the silver lining around so many dark clouds. 

  As I said in the introduction to this series, we are going to take seven weeks to look at how America has angered God. If you aren’t Catholic you may not know what I am talking about. The seven deadly sins are the seven sins that can get you a ticket straight to hell. No passing go and no use for $200 in hell. You certainly won’t be getting a get-out-of-hell free pass.   Over the summer there was a grain deal made with Russia and the UN for grain shipping security. It’s off. Friday one of the ships was attacked by Ukraine and Russia is no longer willing to make sure grains get to nations who need them. Why are we talking about this again? Think about how many items we cook that require grain and Russia and Ukraine are the grain basket of the world. The price of food will be going up, again. Future videos.   We have less than twenty weeks left of this year. Thank God!!!! At this point, America has those neat little events called elections which those of us with functioning brains know are selections disguised as elections. We also have rumors of diesel shortages. What!!!! Rumors… I will get into that in a minute. Here’s what I personally see going forward and this time I am counting the America selections on the second Tuesday of November. Diesel Shortage. There are many rumors of shortages of this fuel. Are there only 25 or so days left? I don’t know. Here’s what I see going forward if there is. Prioritizing distribution. If you drive 18-wheelers, trains, and any other form of transportation of goods, you’ll be fine.  “Election Scams”. As I have said before, the elections are selections.   Understanding what’s happening can be as simple as looking at things—stopping and asking questions even if it’s not popular. Perhaps then it’s more important than ever to question things.   This chapter opens with his new Amigo Fidel out for the night. John got a good look at what life South of the border was really like. The women in Panama had escaped countries where brutal dictators reigned supreme. Dictators, we more than likely put in place.  These women had lost everyone in their families. Some were single moms. While prostitution itself was illegal in Panama, getting paid to "entertain" gringo soldiers was common. This place could've been a Nevada Brothel. If the women got paid a bit more in private for sex then they kept their mouths shut. John was informed that the 'Import' department dealt with that. I have been watching Jon Townsends for over two years now. His cooking is simple and it's based on 18th Century methods. Why in hell am I sharing this? Watching society has become a bit of a hobby for me the last couple of years. I am seeing us repeat history. Some actions are so verbatim that it's scary. I am not going to get too political here because I am going to share this on multiple pages. Scratch Kitchen is meant to be a place I can relax and do what I enjoy most. Cook!   This chapter starts out with John meeting a young man who was native to Panama. Fidel was a descendant of Simon Bolivar. A man who lead men to fight Spain for independence for what we know as Panama. John told Fidel he is a descendant of Thomas Paine the writer of Common Sense. John was pleased to find out Fidel had read Common Sense in Spanish. And Fidel was pleased that John could speak Spanish.   Fidel showed John around Panama’s capital and they ran into a variety of people. John got a good idea of the attitudes of people who are from Panama. Some of them consider themselves above those who are Native to Panama and could get around the jungles.
