I just found a new app for menu planning for my Android. I can plan for a month. I can see it at a store so I can make sure I only buy what I need for a week. I try to buy for a month with the plan to buy what I have to buy. Then bring the new items and the fragments of what already have.
Here is the rest of the menu for the week:
Wednesday - leftovers
Thursday - Breakfast for dinner. Waffles, scrambled eggs, with juice.
Friday - Salad and Calzone.
I am working on the assessment of Jar It Up January. It was awesome last year and it’s awesome this year. Last year was five channels and this year is 11. All of these folks have years of canning or preserving under their belts. If you don’t can right now, this is the event to watch. I will put some links below of must-have books for new canners. Canning is about survival. It’s how people survived the Great Depression.
Must-Have Books
Amish Canning Cookbook by Georgia Varrzoa
The Unofficial All-American Cookbook by Sandra May
The Complete Guide to Home Preserving by Ball
Complete Guide to Home Canning: Revised 2015
The above book is by the National Center for Home Food Preserving by the USDA. So purchase it if you choose. Just know that I won’t be because I feel like I have enough information with what I already have.
