Remember: This is about learning about why Marx came up with his theories and eventually Communism. It’s about learning how countries like Finland have embraced capitalism without losing their Socialism benefits.
This will be part two of the first section of the book.
To Bring Back Yesterday
As hard as Roosevelt tried to look like he was actually doing something to help those affected most by the Great Depression, the fact is he was being hypocritical. How? He would praise capitalist with one hand and slap them with the other. This as former Director of the Budget for Roosevelt, Professor Lewis Douglas, noted must stop.
Scientists and Marxism
On December 7, 1937, Dr. Robert A. Milliken, a leading Physicist at the time, made the same tired argument for capitalism regarding the employment that we hear today. Also, he used the same old tired argument against Socialism. For the bourgeois minded scientists belief, they are above Socialism. Quacks then are the same as quacks today.
Productive Possibilities and private Ownership
From the beginning, Roosevelt’s plan was half-cocked at best. It wasn’t until the Communist and Socialist Parties of America got after him did he actually start to do anything regarding the unemployment. There were holes in his plan you could push an elephant through. The original plan was for his friends to provide the jobs. When it came clear that wasn’t going to happen willingly. He had to take another path that always works, tax those by their means. If you have millions then you pay the appropriate tax. Amazingly, this usually works out.
During the U.S.S.R. while I was growing up, we heard about food lines, (never mind the lines we wait in to check out,) and we heard about government apartments. We were told that there were lines for everything. Except for jobs, that’s because it was illegal not to work. There were apartments with shared kitchens and bathrooms. It wasn’t until I came across Ushanka Show with Sergy Sputnikov, did I learn the truth. The Veterans were given preferential treatment. According to Sergy means, Veterans were the first citizens that got their choice of products. Rather it was cars, apartments, or radios, Veterans were first. Those rotten communists, how dare they put Veterans first. He told about the apartment his parents were able to get a mortgage between 1985 and 1987. Yes, they had to pay a down payment, just like we do here. Imagine my shock. Sergey talked about how his mom would go to the store and buy things like mayonnaise and it would come in a small glass jar. When she was done with the jar she had to clean it and take it back to the store to get another one. Pesky communist was ahead of the ball on being environmentally friendly as well. What we never heard about was homelessness in Russia. That is because there wasn’t really any. There were living facilities for everyone.
The Inevitability of Socialism
Trotsky noted an observation of why socialism is inevitable; while capitalism exporters and tycoons will cannibalize communities like Sidney Nebraska. After the forced merger between Caleb’s and Bass Pro Shop, the city was left in pieces. Here is something to think about, in 1999 Hugo Chavez came into power in Venezuela. The first thing he did was to raise the literacy levels in the countryside. Then he started selling the oil and giving it to the citizens of Venezuela. Also, he was building apartments so people didn’t have to live in structures where they were not safe. There had been a mudslide that left many people dead and the survivors homeless. He sought to help them. After that, he paid off Venezuela’s debts to the IMF and Washington. Which he proclaimed never again would Venezuela be indebted to outsiders! Then he began to make low and no-interest loans to smaller nations so they could do the same. Well, that was that Washington could have that. Nations not being in debt slavery to them was intolerable. He invested in his citizens and them in return invested in Venezuela. This is what a leader should do.
The Inevitability of Socialist Revolution
Revolution as Russia experienced in 1917 brought about major changes. People who were illiterate were taught to read and write. Women were no longer punching bags to their husbands via the church's request. The church didn’t permit divorce. Women became architects and some even took part in rebuilding Russia. Both before and after WWII. Yes, there were many tragedies. We often hear about these tragedies more than we hear about those who went from illiterate to literate. The fact is, every country that ended up with a communist party in their government, the lives of the poor proletariats had their lives improved greatly. It may have taken a few years, but it did happen.
Marxism In The United States
There was a time when all subjects were imported here. Over many generations, certain subjects went from taboo to outright forbidden. Don’t think about it. Don’t talk about it. Don’t even question it; Marxism. In 2016 that changed with Senator Bernie Sanders. Along with Dr. Richard D. Wolff who is an economical Marxist. The bottom line, he criticizes capitalism.
Capitalism’s Idea Mirror
Capitalism is a knock off of Britain's world Domination. Kind of like puss oozing out of a wound. We now have American Hegemony as opposed to the British. Yet, the new boss is the same as the Old Boss. Degradation, poverty, and starvation continue in a new form. It is as if the British domination has been reborn.
Mother Countries and Colonies
Countries across the world conquer other weaker countries for slaves. Also, one strong country fears equally strong countries. The idea that another country could and should stand their ground against them. Bullies don’t like strong prey. This is why our government won’t stand and face a country like Russia or China because they could hold their ground against a direct attack from our government. Therefore, our government goes after countries like Iraq which they believe to be weaker then they are.
Planned World Economy
Once someone tries to plan a single economy, they should inform others of their plan. “Inform” them meaning to pitch an idea and get input. This, of course, is far too civilized for imperialism. Capitalists grab their military and deliver “democracy” to the citizens. During Leon Trotsky’s life, he understood that if countries were going to survive colonialism, they must band together. That would be easier if they were under one governing system such as Communism or Socialism. Either way, it would improve the chances of the smaller nation resist the imperialist trying to colonize them. Imperialists will offer “liberation” to citizens, such as Syria and currently Iran. Even if their “liberation” will be followed by fascism. But at least it’s not Socialism or Communism where the poor will get literacy, health care, and employment.
