I just came across an article from RT.com about a couple that is suing their 30-year-old son to force him to move out of the family home. https://on.rt.com/95x6 I nearly laughed till I peed. The idea that people are staying home and avoiding the real world after 25 is insane. Now if you have a sick parent that is different. Or if you move back home to help care for a niece or nephew, okay. That is expectable to help family member adjust to losing a parent or parents.
However, the circumstances above aren't the deal here. No! It is a grown child who wants to remain at home and live off of his parents. The second story I found was about how people graduating from college can't afford to rent or buy because they have student loans. https://on.rt.com/8ru2 Also, rent is going so high in states like California where you have super wealthy living next to super poor.
The second article was written by Michaela Begsteiger, she is based in the UK. They are facing a similar problem that we are facing here. Not enough affordable housing. And what is "affordable" isn't that affordable when you figure in food, electric, laundry, and internet/cable/satellite. Over the last two years alone, the price of houses in the UK and America has gone through the roof. We are seeing a return of subprime loans. Remember the thing that caused the housing bubble in 07-08. Yes! It is back.
This is why I am starting to think we should start looking at communal housing situations. They aren't perfect, but they are better than being homeless, trust me.
